Project objective is to:

Operationalize sustainable rangeland management in the demonstration landscapes with support of financial mechanisms, through community-based implementation of best practice measures which restore and improve biodiversity conservation and ecosystem services. The project targets to reduce degradation of mountain and steppe rangelands covering at least 300,000 ha in demonstration landscapes with enhanced biodiversity and ecosystem services and train 150 PUG leaders and provide intensive support to 50 PUGs

Detailed Description of Actual Services provided by your Company:

·   Facilitate task forces at appropriate levels, to bring together partners working on rangeland management to share best practices, boost collaboration and drive forward the agenda on pastureland use including reduction in livestock densities

·   Encourage establishment and build capacity of voluntary community-based organizations (CBOs) or co management communities (smaller HGs, PUGs etc) to ensure the sustainable use of pastureland, improve animal quality, and increase the animal production value through eco-friendly approaches

·   In coordination with local administrations, provide technical support (mapping and provision of data on land use, natural resources etc) to soum land use planning, and support established CBOs in integrating their activities with the landscape-level soum management plans, incorporating biodiversity conservation measures

·   Engage herders and CBOs in estimating annual carrying capacity of pastures and training simple approaches for pasture monitoring in compliance with nationwide approved approach

·   Demonstrate in at least two landscapes the application of innovative or improved financing mechanisms, to incentivise rangeland restoration, conservation of biodiversity and enhancing ecosystem services and improvement of animal quality
