1. Strengthenening soum technical committees for pastureland management, IFAD, Poverty Reduction Program, 2008-2009, 4 aimags
Met with over 1500 herders from 711 herders’ households of 32 soums of the project and studied current status of pastureland management in household level, and detected further ways to improve activities of PMMC of soum, demand of pastureland and herders’ group training and revealed amendment proposal to Pastureland Law through conducting comprehensive 80 questionnaires.
Supported reorganization of Pastureland management monitoring committee (PMMC) to Non-governmental organization (NGO). Consultants of the project implementing organization have advised PMMC’s members of 32 soums regarding establishment of a non-governmental organization and formulation of required documents by the relevant laws and supported to take the State Registration certificate and stamp. As a result of it, NGOs’ in charge of soum pastureland management have became an independent organization.
Organized exchange visits. Altogether 31 people from the project soums of Arkhangai, Bulgan, Khuvsgul and Khentii aimags. They visited some project soums (Gurvanbulag and Orkhon soums, Bulgan aimag, Alag-Erdene soum, Khuvsgul aimag and Jargalant soum, Arkhangai aimag) and RPRPIU in Khuvsgul aimag. Visits were held in non-project soums: Ikh-ul soum, Khuvsgul aimag, Erdene and Zaamar soums, Tuv aimag and Bayangol soum, Selenge aimag. During this event, the participants have introduced and studied on site activities of PMMCs, development and implementation of soum pastureland management planning, best experience of herders’ group and adopted methods of above project and non-project soums. Based upon results of the exchange visits and meetings, the recommendation has developed for the state central organization, state central organization of aimag and soum, herders and herders’ group and newly established NGO.
Capacity building trainings. held in soum center: Trainings “Pastureland management”, “Current activities of soum PMMC and strengthening the activities of NGO ” were held and taught tutorials by defined methods on pastureland yield, carrying capacity for direction of pastureland management, structure, activities, membership, responsibilities of members of NGO in charge of pastureland and development of pastureland management planning on given data of soum land planning in Battsengel, Tsenkher soums of Arkhangai, Khishig-Undur,Orkhon soums of Bulgan aimag, Tunel soum of Khuvsgul, Batnorov and Murun soum of Khentii aimag with participation of 401 heads of PMMC/NGOs, soum administration, land officer, Food and Agricultural officers, environmental inspectors, governors of bags, head of herders group and herders.
